Cooling The Tank

Cooling tank can be achieved by adding chiller witch cost $ , the solution i have is a simple way and witch will help maintain your tank in a lower temperature during summer time , the methode i used will allow 3 decree drop in the temperature.

1 make sure you remove the hood or light strip allow complete open top.

2 open the cabin doors to allow your canister filter to have a good air circulation.

3 have a fan blowing facing the top of the tank

Lowering PH in the shrimp tank

The ideal ph for the CRS tank is between 6.2 to 6.8, it may also depend on where you got your CRS from, the best way to lower you ph is by using peat moss, not only its is natural also it will release humic acid witch will help CRS to spawn the egg .

I use Laguna Peat Granules , it was originally for use in the pond so you need to fine it at the pond section in the store. i put it in the media bag then clip on the side of the tank . its easy to change and maintain rather then put it in the canister , unless you have a HOB filter then its ok .

This is one of my top secret, and it will help your CRS breed!!!

Feeding CRS in the air

By tie up a piece of Shirakura shrimp food and tie in up with a string and then hanging in the mid air 2 - 3 cm above the ground and after 2 min you will see a amazing ball of shrimp , then you can try to pull it up or swing it left and right , you will see how funny the shrimp are like in the pirate ship ride.

How to do water change for the shrimp tank

Due to the nature sensitivity of the high grade CRS, a dripping water change technique is required to keep berried CRS comfortable to bread and prevent ph shock to the shrimps.

This is my DIY "dripping water change" kit ,put together by Maxi-Jet and Eheim Double Tap Connector Valve followed by fold-back binder clip.

With adjustable vale you will be able to control the amount of the water dripping into the tank.

You can also add required water addictive such as CaCO3(Calcium carbonate) or so to increase the GH , depend on your local water condition.

Also during the winter you can also put a larger heater in the bucket if you just fill up the bucket with the tap water.

Remember Maxi-Jet 1200 Power Head is required to pump the water up to the tank , anything below 1200 will not have enough power to do so .

How to remove tapeworm from shrimp tank

Simple sinking shrimp pellet in the shooter glass covered by sponge.

Under the15 gallon CRS tank

Run by 2 Eheim classic 2213, by far i think they are the best suitable for the planted tank and CRS tank not only they can accommodate large quantity of bio media , also they are very easy to maintain , and the best part is they don't make any sound at all . after using Eheim i wont go for any other canister filter and that's for sure.

By running 2 smaller canister instead of one large canister is because that way water will flow through more media then a single large canister.

And i put up the labels on the side of the 2213 so i know when was the day that i clean my filter.

CRS and RCS in the tank.

Blyxa japonica in the center, Fissiden moss on drift wood and clean up the front so its visible to viewing shrimps.

Prepare set up for 15 gallon CRS tank

Prepare set up for 15 gallon CRS tank
For subtract ADA Aqua Soil-Amazonia is the best choice, not only they keep the ph lower also the black color of the subtract in contrast makes easier to spot your CRS.

See if you can spot something different about this 2 picture for the tank on the right.
